Eligibility

Diploma / Engineering Degree

For the Junior Engineer post, you should have a 3-year Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or allied engineering streams from a recognized university or institute.

You are also eligible if you have a B.Tech or B.E. in those branches.

Note: Candidates with only a plain B.Sc or a B.A. degree are not eligible for JE posts. Also, you must have your final results in hand on the closing date of the online application.

Branch-wise Eligibility

The RRB groups allied engineering streams under major umbrellas for the exam.

Different JE posts require different medical standards, ranging from A-3 to C-1. Check the medical standard required for your preferred post before you apply.

Selection Process

The RRB JE selection process is as below.

CBT 1 (First Stage Computer Based Test)

CBT 1 is purely a screening test. You face 100 questions in 90 minutes covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science.

This is qualifying test wth a strict 1/3rd negative marking. So, don’t blindly mark the answers.

CBT 2 (Second Stage Computer Based Test)

Your score in CBT-2 decides your job. It’s a 150-question paper to be solved in 120 minutes.

It covers General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and finally, 100 questions purely on your Technical Abilities (based on your engineering branch).

The technical questions are equivalent to a hard diploma-level exam. There is a negative marking of 1/3rd.

DV (Document Verification)

If you clear the CBT 2 cut-off, you are called for DV. Bring all your original marksheet and certificates.

Medical Examination

Right after your documents are cleared, you are sent directly to a Railway Hospital for a comprehensive medical check.
